Color version for the web published 1/9/13 A few weeks ago I got to illustrate Mark Bittman's column for the Dining section of The New York Times. |
It was about an amazing sauce that has the power to conjure memories of the Mediterranean.
The focus is on three main ingredients, Fennel, Olives and tomatoes. yum!
I started off concentrating my efforts on the ingredients, especially fennel. I had fun drawing that, oh and olives.
But the gist of the piece wasn't about the ingredients, it was about the magical transformation into the warmth of the Mediterranean coast.
