Persimmon

persimmon  5x7 acrylic on panel

For years I avoided the persimmon. I once ate one and the inside of my mouth got weird, I thought I was allergic. But then a friend explained to me that the fruit wasn’t ripe, that happens to everyones mouth.
You have to have it when it is so ripe, mushy to the touch. It was delicious. Plus the color is amazing, an alizarin red, but with some orange color. As it ripens it turned more alizarin Crimson.
The fruit is from Asia and it is technically a “berry”  like the tomato.
This is the season for persimmons, go get one and enjoy!
